A proposal to banks, credit unions & fintechs

Your forgotten cents.
One fortune.
A better world.

Every bank account ends in a few cents nobody thinks about. DecimalDraw lets customers opt in to pool those decimals into one shared prize, so a single customer can win a life-changing sum while millions go to charity.

The insight

Small change, huge scale

To one customer, 37 cents means almost nothing. Across ten million accounts it adds up to about $5 million every month. That's money already sitting in the system, unused, waiting for a purpose.

How it works

Four steps, zero effort for the customer

  1. 1

    Opt in

The customer signs a separate, plain-language agreement, or ticks one box in the app. It's voluntary, and they can leave at any time.

  2. 2

    Sweep the decimals

On a fixed schedule, the cents after the dot (for example, the .37 in $1,284.37) move automatically into a dedicated, segregated pool account.

  3. 3

    Grow the pot

The pool grows in public view. Every participant can see the live total, the next draw date and where the money goes.

  4. 4

    Draw & distribute

An audited, verifiable random draw picks the winner. The pot is then split between the winner, charities, the operating bank and a public fund.

Draw cadence is configurable

Built to be legal

One idea, three compliant models

Gambling and banking rules differ by country and by state. DecimalDraw is designed so it can launch under whichever framework a market already allows.

B · Charity round-up + sweepstakes

The decimals are a donation to a charity pool. A share funds a prize draw run as a regulated sweepstakes, with a free alternative method of entry wherever the law requires one.

  • Charity comes first, which makes it easy for regulators and the media to support
  • Can be run by a licensed sweepstakes administrator

C · Lottery partnership

The classic decimal pool, operated with the state or national lottery, where they hold the license and the bank provides the rails.

  • Fits markets where lotteries are a state monopoly
  • Gives the state lottery a new, digital-first product

Why banks should adopt it

A feature customers talk about

Customer acquisition

“The bank where your cents can make you a millionaire” is a reason to open an account that no rate comparison can match.

Daily engagement

A live pot and a countdown to the next draw bring customers back to the app every day.

Deposits & savings

Under the prize-linked model the bank gathers new, stable savings balances.

Impact you can measure

Millions a year in transparent charity funding, ready for ESG and community-reinvestment reports.

Earned media

Every winner is a story, and every charity cheque is a headline.

Low build cost

A scheduled sweep, a pool account and an audited draw run on infrastructure banks already have.

Trust by design

Transparent from the first cent

A prize pool lives or dies on trust, so DecimalDraw puts transparency into every layer.

  • Explicit opt-in. Joining is a separate agreement that is never pre-ticked, and customers can opt out with one tap.
  • Segregated pool. Collected cents sit in a dedicated, audited account.
  • Verifiable draws. A certified random number generator, independently audited, with results published.
  • Public ledger. Live totals, past winners (with consent) and every charity disbursement.
  • Responsible design. The amount is capped below $1 per sweep, nobody is ever charged extra, and nothing pushes people to gamble.
  • Charity governance. Customers vote among vetted, registered charities.

Proven building blocks

Each piece already works. DecimalDraw combines them.

Round-ups

Bank of America's “Keep the Change” and apps like Acorns showed that customers happily put spare change to work.

Prize-linked savings

UK Premium Bonds have run since 1956 and hold savings for millions of people. US credit unions run “Save to Win”.

Micro-donations

Point-of-sale round-up giving, such as Pennies in the UK, has raised millions a few pence at a time.

What's new

The decimals of the account balance itself, pooled bank-wide into one headline prize with a built-in charity share.

Path to launch

From one pilot to the world

  1. Phase 1

    Pilot

One US credit union or neobank, using the prize-linked savings model with a capped number of members.

  2. Phase 2

    Prove

Publish results: opt-in rate, engagement, new deposits and charity dollars raised.

  3. Phase 3

    Scale

National banks and fintech platforms, plus white-label APIs for core-banking providers.

  4. Phase 4

    Go global

Adapt the model to each country's rules: UK, EU, Canada, Gulf states, Asia.
